An estimate for planning, not tax advice. Uses the FY 2026-27 slabs, the standard deduction and the rebate on income up to ₹12 lakh (section 156 of the Income-tax Act 2025, earlier 87A). HRA, LTA and other exemptions are not counted. Professional tax is averaged over the year.
How CTC turns into take-home
Why is in-hand less than CTC ÷ 12?
CTC counts what the employer spends on you, including its own PF, gratuity and sometimes ESIC. From the gross that is left, your own PF, ESIC (if gross is ₹21,000 a month or less), professional tax and income tax come off before pay reaches your bank.
How much PF is deducted?
12% of your PF wages, from you and 12% from the employer. PF wages are basic + DA, capped at ₹25,000 a month since 17 September 2026, unless the company pays PF on full basic.
New or old regime?
The new regime has lower rates and no tax up to ₹12 lakh of taxable income, but almost no deductions. The old regime allows 80C, HRA and others. The calculator shows when the other regime would save you money.
